Lyrics
When I’m alone
and the real world is remote
I’m riding waves of sound + vision
and try to stay afloat
I can count on you
as long as the power is on
to open up my eyes
and make watching so much fun
Love and sex & action & death
you represent the most
You 40-channelled wonderbox
a machine to kill the ghost
In black and white you look so good
in colours like a dream
Every day we get so close
and soon I’ll kiss your screen
I’m in remote control
when I turn on your world
And remotely lose control
when your world turns me on
You & I can tell a vision
of a perfect deal
my faithful television
I’m sucking for what you reveal
Maybe I should leave you
switch off for good to not go blind
and save the remaining virtue
of my eyes and mind
Work and play and read and write
and love and learn I know
But you compete so very well
I’m devoted to your show
I’m in remote control
when I turn on your world
And remotely lose control
when your world turns me on
You & I can tell a vision
of a perfect deal (that’s ideal)
My lovely television
are you for real?
My perfect television
I’m a sucker for what you reveal!
(Don’t be jealous on my cell-phone and PC!
It’s just not the same love
Hmm, we could just break up for a while)
Story
From the same session as Teach Me To Believe and again I played the live drums. Morten threw in a guitar part (like in the old Terry-days). I had the style of Ultravox in my mind and re-wrote the chords of the verse later on. The song was originally titled Tele-Wisdom or Tell-a-Vision. That subject is still relevant.
