Lyrics
Riding my bike
in the cold November night
Heading for that certain town
though not to visit you
No, I’m just passing through
on a long and lonely ride
With time for memories
and sad thoughts like I often do
The feet are cold
but the mind is very bold
Recalling that night
five years ago
When I followed you
to your house
And then drove back home
on the same bike
With frozen toes but warm delight
That’s what love could make me do
Before I turned cold on you again
While the light of your love is glowing still
from the light of your house
That blends with the light from your town
Which then again shines like a golden gleam ahead of me
On this clear cold and quiet November night
Gently guiding my way
on the dark and lonely road
The mysterious moon so far away
yet very clear in sight
Still commanding all the water on Earth
(and in us) with magnetic sway
I could take it as a sign for my strong urge
to ride on to your house
But dare not to do anything anymore
I’ve made mistakes so often before
I’ve been an elephant in a glasshouse
but now moves like a mouse
Your love was so steady and strong
and if not, you concealed it well
I’m happy to have felt the grace so long
but sad I left it in the haze (silenced the bell)
But the light of your love is glowing still
from the light of your house
That blends with the light from your town
Which then again shines like a golden gleam ahead of me
On this clear cold and quiet November night
And the light of that love is glowing still
from the light of your house
To blend with the light from your town
Which then again shines like a golden gleam in the sky
On a quiet, clear and cold November night
Story
When starting on the words for this song I just wrote a stream of consciousness for the purpose of getting the story down all in one. I was convinced they had to be re-written to fit the music but when trying to sing them I realized they worked well as they were. Later I have been wanting to make changes here and there (as always with everything) but this is what I recorded. The arrangement of the music however has been adjusted several times, but again, that can be said of most of my songs.
